Toward a science of simplicity: George Whitesides on TED
Simplicity: We know it when we see it — but what is it, exactly? In this funny, philosophical talk, George Whitesides chisels out an answer.
A clip from my youth...
For some reason, I loved this show as a child, I remember being 4 or 5 years old, wanting to stay up that extra half-hour past my bedtime on Thursday nights just to watch it.
One time there was a car show a half-hour away from where we lived. My parents drove us there. It was the usual old classic cars being displayed, and then there it was... The General Lee, a 1969 Dodge Charger in all it's glory, fully decked out and painted just like the real thing.
My parents said I didn't leave the car's side for over an hour, supposedly I was just there starring at it in complete awe. This car was one of my first childhood idols, I clenched the velvet rope surrounding the vehicle, and just looked at it... forever.
Egypt / Lebanon Montage
Filmed by Khalid Mohtaseb. The documentary was shot entirely on the canon 5D MKll in and around Cairo and Beirut.
