Deckard

Hey Blade Runner fans, if you’ve never seen a British documentary called ON THE EDGE OF BLADE RUNNER, it’s highly recommended. This is the piece in which the filmmakers first revealed whether or not Deckard is a Replicant. I always assumed he wasn't, never made much sense to me. To me this still stands as one of my all time favorite films, the atmosphere and entire production design of the film are simply astounding to me. This documentary is a remarkably honest & insightful look at the making of the film.

Here it is for your viewing pleasure…via the peculiar wonder of YouTube!

Nice Figures

Kidrobot Gorillaz Figure: 2-D (2-tone version)
Not only are the sculpts and paint jobs even better than the previous series, but they're cheaper, too! Too bad the band announced they would no longer be releasing new albums, but at least we got the Gorillaz movie to look forward to.

Uncle Loong - Vinyl Figure
Who is Uncle Loong? He's the mascot of xl-shop.com, a Malaysian website where I would buy toys before so many sites sold the same items domestically.
This figure's very nicely made, and comes with a hat, glasses, an umbrella and a tiny toy train. It's a solid, appealing design, with a strong sculpt and nice paint work. The attention to detail is nice, too - there's plastic 'lenses' in the glasses, and the earring is a separate metal piece.

These oil versions of the Zliks vinyl toys are also cool. With the eyes as separate pieces and can be 'posed' into different facial expressions.

Elmo on fire!

Rosie leaves The View!!!

After just one season on the nation's favorite "ladies talkin'" show, The View, Rosie O'Donnell announced (in the above clip, prior to her picking things off Barbara's lip) that she could not settle on a contract and will be leaving. But before you hang yourself, listen to this: she'll be back occasionally, she says, to talk about things like autism, and we all know Rosie and autism are a match made in heaven.

The Ice Pirates (1984) Trailer - you MUST watch this!

Star Wars - More DVD alterations

Screen grabs from a Star Wars DVD set to be released for the 30th Anniversary this year. They clearly show changes to Jabba yet again. From what you can see of Greedo not only has the colour of his Jacket changed, it appears to be more Blue than previously, but Greedo appears to have eyes of some sort instead of the plain black domed eyes that he had before. Select Stormtroopers now have various Clone Trooper style coloured markings, I suppose this is yet another attempt at trying to tie both Trilogy's together.

Which Jabba is worst?

Carrie Fisher Named Biggest Nerd Crush

Carrie Fisher's portrayal of Princess Leia topped a recent Maxim.com Hit List for Hottest Comic Book/Sci Fi Character.

The poll conducted by the men's magazine in February, named Fisher above Gillian Anderson's "Dana Scully" character as well as The Matrix's Carrie Ann Moss (Trinity).

The list rounded out with Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica) in fourth, Lara Croft (Tomb Raider), fifth; Famke Janssen (X-Men), sixth; Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager), seventh; Aeon Flux, eighth; Jennifer Garner (Alias), ninth; and Natasha Henstridge (Species).

Wookie Inspiration?

Above are 2 illustrations by famed Dune artist John Schoenherr that he painted in the early 70's for the SF Magazine Analog, for the story 'And Seven Times Never Kill Man' by George R.R. Martin. It's not hard to work out which Star Wars character these were the influence for, even down to the weapons.
Check out Ian Culbard's post here also which has some nice Star Wars related art

Tom - Out On The Street & on the NEWS!

Here's a clip of the footage on the local weather news:

Here's the whole interview, some of the sound is hard to make out with all the background noise, notice the lack of interest from passing pedestrians:

Tom Baasner was fired from his job again, so in typical
fashion he decided to make the most of it, desperate and
delusional, he setup his office on the sidewalk:

Here's Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway in-costume for their roles as Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 in the movie remake of the Cold War sitcom Get Smart.

Edward Norton is the New Hulk
Marvel Studios has announced that Edward Norton will play Bruce Banner in the sequel to The Incredible Hulk. Word on the street is that the new hulk will be a green supremacist who's always freaking out and curb stomping everyone.

First Shot of Iron Man
iron-man-grey.jpg
A shot has emerged of one of the Iron Man suits from the upcoming movie based on the comic. This is the armored suit first constructed by Tony Stark to escape while being held as a POW, making me wonder why John McCain was held so long. I can't help but wonder what you do if you have to poop while you're in that thing. I had a hard enough time in snow pants.

Drinky The Crow Show Clips

Tony Millionaire's Maakies comic is coming to Cartoon Network's Adult Swim as The Drinky Crow Show on May 13, and you can see the intro with theme music by They Might Be Giants above. Watch and remind yourself that drinking is cute, not a problem, no matter what your family says. Whiskey understands you better than they ever will.
