Heath Ledger met Modest Mouse’s lead singer, Isaac Brock, back in 2007 while visiting his homeland of Australia and presented him with an idea to direct a video for their yet to be released song “King Rat”. His intention was to raise awareness on modern whaling practices through a striking visual piece without having to say a word. The video was left unfinished when Ledger died in January 2008, but his company, The Masses, finished the video in his honor. WARNING - it gets kinda morbid at the end. In my opinion, it looks like an elaborate animatic, and far from complete, maybe it had little budget to work with, it could have been pretty crazy looking if it had been fully animated and painted.
